- ArtsLynx
Colorado—Colorado Arts and Cultural Institutions Online
- ArtReach—This program provides
elementary school children with arts enrichment programs during the school
day and a well-structured, positive after-school art program. This year,
15 DPS elementary schools are participating.
- Children’s Museum—Educational
programs to address science and math at the elementary level. Traveling
exhibitions include The Transparent Earth and The Solar System. In addition,
Denver Public Schools are given a reduced fee for participating in their
educational programs.
- Colorado Awards—The
Denver Teachers Award Chapter has honored 360 distinguished teachers. The
Denver Colorado Youth Citizenship Award Chapter has recognized 986 middle
school students for their outstanding citizenship to their schools and
communities.
- Colorado Symphony—Provides
Denver Public Schools reduced fees for all CSO educational programs to
include youth symphony orchestra concerts. In addition, the symphony
provides DPS assistance with transportation costs for any school making a
request. Approximately 2000 students attend youth concerts each year.
- Community Resources—This
organization is housed at Bradley Elementary School and supports schools with mentorships, art days, reading programs for parents, and various other
enhancement programs to support student achievement.
- Denver Art Museum (DAM) —DAM provides outstanding art
educational programs to Denver Public Schools' students and gives DPS special rates for school tours. In addition, the museum
hosts special events and DPS teacher trainings.
- Denver Center for Performing Arts (DCPA)—DCPA provides professional development for district drama teachers and assists with Shakespeare Festival preparation.
- Denver Public Library—The library sponsors the district end-of-year art exhibits.
- Four-Mile Park—This
historic site offers many DPS students the opportunity to experience one of
Denver’s original homestead landmarks. Students not only receive history
lessons but are exposed to crafts, music, dance, and various other
components of Denver’s early years.
- Larimer Arts Project/Project
LEAD—Denver Public Schools has
partnered with the Larimer Arts Association and established Project LEAD, where eight middle schools representing each district quadrant
show their art in downtown venues and are recognized for their talents.
Seventh and eighth graders are commissioned to create a piece of art to
exhibit in the main hallway of a prominent building downtown or in the
Larimer Square area. The process of creating the artwork is documented by the curator and featured with the final product.
- Young Audiences of
Colorado—Gives DPS students
exposure to many genres of the arts including music, visual arts, dance, drama,
and storytelling and supports about 23 individual performances in the
schools each year.
