Secondary Social Studies Institutes
2009 Fall Semester

District social studies teachers can attend two large group professional development institutes this year (one during fall semester and one during spring semester). To register, visit the professional development registration system.

Highlights of the 2009–2010 Institutes

  • Content presentations by university professors
  • Model lessons
  • Technology infusion in the social studies classroom
  • Differentiation strategies (e.g., ELA, special education, struggling readers, gifted and talented)

We encourage all our social studies teachers to attend, and administrators and humanities facilitators are welcome as well.

Schools will need to cover the cost of guest teachers for their social studies teachers to attend.
