Educators new to Denver Public Schools complete three Induction components during their first year. An Induction certificate will be issued and should be attached to the CDE application to convert an initial license to a professional license. Track your progress in the Induction program using the online Induction Check.

How to Document |
1. Orientation |
Includes New Educator Institute, Induction Video Component, and other opportunities provided by content-area departments during the summer. |
New teachers must attend between 1 and 30 hours of professional development during the summer.
|
Attendance at New Educator Institute is recorded automatically, but you must sign in. Complete and receive confirmation emails for the four areas covered in the Induction Video/Quiz Component. |
2. Ongoing professional development during the school year
|
All professional development taken during the school year (after school begins) satisfies this component of Induction. |
A minimum of 16 hours should be documented during the school year. |
Document ongoing professional development by completing and submitting the New Educator Professional Development Log (Word). |
3. Mentoring |
Principals and program heads assign mentors to new educators during the first two weeks of hire. New educators beginning contracts during the school year should remind their principals to assign them mentors. |
New educators must have mentors available to them throughout the school year and should receive at least 20 hours of mentoring per semester. |
At the end of each semester, mentors document and submit hours using the Mentor Log (Word). |
