Resources for Parents
Please return periodically for updates.
- Mathematics in Your Child’s Elementary School: A Parent’s Handbook (English or
Spanish)—The parent’s
handbook contains an outline of the mathematics students are learning at each grade level. To show the types of activities that build these skills and concepts, information for each grade level includes a sample of student work, an example of a game students play, and an example of a homework assignment. The handbook also contains a glossary with definitions of words that may be used by your child’s teacher in the context of the Everyday Mathematics curriculum or that may be part of homework assignments. This handbook is only an outline to be used as a resource. For more information about grade-level goals or the Everyday Mathematics curriculum, ask your student’s teacher or principal.
- People to Contact—It is vital to establish a conversation with your child's teacher. She or he is the person who best understands your child and their progress. If your concerns remain unanswered, you may then contact the principal. For questions, comments, and/or concerns regarding curriculum, contact math curriculum coordinators.
