The goal of Induction is to improve student achievement by providing valuable mentor support and relevant professional development to new educators (new teachers and student service providers). New educators are supported three main ways during their first year:
New educators and mentors should review the Induction Overview page. New educators receive an Induction certificate after
their first year, when they complete at least 1 hour of professional
development before school starts, complete professional development during the
school year, and are mentored for two semesters.
The Induction Certificate is
required to apply for and receive a professional teaching license with the state of Colorado.
New educators can track their progress in
the Induction program by using the online
Induction Check tool.
New educators use the Professional Development Log to track their professional development hours throughout the school year. A sample log is available on the Forms and Documents page.
Mentors should refer to the Mentor Resources page for mentoring information.
Principals/Supervisors can refer to the Principal Resources page for more information.
New educators and mentors can download program newsletters, use the Induction Check tool, and access additional information and links on the Additional Resources page.
