Educators new to Denver Public Schools must complete the three components of induction during their first year. An induction certificate will be issued and must be attached to the CDE application to convert your initial license to a professional license. New educators can track their progress in the Induction program by using the online Induction Check tool.

Description |
Hours |
How to Document |
1. Professional development offered before school starts |
Includes New Educators Institute, Induction Video Component (completed prior to Institute), and other opportunities provided by content-area departments during the summer. |
New educators must attend between 1 and 30 hours of professional development during the summer.
|
New educators attendance at the Institute is recorded automatically (make sure you sign in). Complete and receive confirmation emails for the four areas covered through the Induction Video Component prior to the Institute. |
2. Ongoing professional development during the school year (May also be referred to as New Educator Network) |
All professional development taken during the school year (after school begins) satisfies this component of induction. |
You will be paid for up to 16 after-school hours of coursework from the New Educator Network listing, during the school year. |
New educators document their ongoing professional development by completing and submitting the Professional Development Log. |
3. Mentoring |
Principals and program heads assign mentors to new educators at the beginning of the school year. |
New educators must have mentors available to them throughout the school year and should receive at least 20 hours of mentoring per semester. |
At the end of each semester, mentors document and submit hours using the Mentor Log Worksheet |
