Post-Secondary Pathways, CTE, and the Arts

Denver Public Schools

Secondary Arts

A strong middle school and K–8 arts program will be implemented to meet the demands of competent art students who have received a comprehensive, sequential, and standards-based arts program during their elementary years.

Upon their arrival to high school, students will be prepared to sustain the demands of advanced-level arts coursework.

High school students participate in arts courses as part of the district-approved graduation requirements. High school students can participate in Advanced Placement courses in visual arts (Art History, Studio Art) and music (Music Theory), as long as levels of skills acquisition warrant placement in the program, ensuring that a level of skills acquisition is followed.
