2006–2007 Classroom Library Order Forms by Grade Level

These forms are used to order and/or re-order classroom libraries. The lists are revised yearly based on book availability. 2004–2005 Studio Course Lists

To improve and streamline our lists and respond to coach and teacher feedback, online book lists are updated yearly. Book lists are organized by a variety of headings at each grade level.

We feel this format helps teachers use the book lists to better prepare for lessons by knowing which books are linked to which units or investigations and whether they are shared reading or independent reading texts. It is our foundational purpose to support the important work that transpires in classrooms.

All Studio Course classrooms use common texts for shared reading, which schools should own. If a school elects to substitute for any shared reading title, the selection should be at grade level, be engaging for a variety of students, and not be repeated at another grade level. The units of study titles are referenced in the grade-level curriculum. Teachers should have access to all of these titles to teach the units of study. All Studio Course classrooms incorporate a wide range and variety of texts for the independent reading library, which represent a range of materials, genres, interests, and readability. Selection of additional and/or optional titles should be within the reading ranges of students and engaging for a variety of students.

All book lists are in Excel spreadsheets. For the 2006–2007 school year, the ELA/multicultural book lists have been incorporated into the grade-level lists. To level books, go to the Web site, Lexile.com.

Magazine/Periodical Ordering Procedures and Deadlines (updated EBSCO and direct ordering procedures)—The EBSCO ordering procedures document below has an attachment listing Studio Course magazines for middle and high school. EBSCO generates school magazine renewal lists, so they do not have a generic order form comparable to classroom library order forms; each school receives an individualized magazine renewal list.
