Geographer's
Craft Project at UC Boulder is a great site that serves as an
introduction into the geographer's craft. The interactive site takes
students through several overviews, some of which may be too advanced
for K-12. This link will take you to the Map Projection Overview,
but you'll find links to overviews for GPS, Geodetic Datums and Coordinate
Systems as well.
NASA's Earth
from Space site provides a very large (it's huge!) collection of satellite
images of the Earth. Once you get familiar with the collection,
you can try searching the Find Photos link at the top of the page for
a clickable map of the Earth (it's much more challenging to search and
navigate).
