Originally from southern Arizona, I became a teacher through Teach For America in 1991. I taught bilingual early childhood classes and helped start a charter school in Houston ISD as I completed my masters of education in counselor education. After moving to Denver in 1999, I was the professional school counselor at Kepner Middle School. I have served on various school, district, and state committees, including the Denver Plan Committee. I am excited to be the school counseling coordinator for Denver Public Schools! I provide professional development and support to the professional school counselors, guiding them as we align ourselves with state and national standards and models to develop a consistent, comprehensive guidance program for all students in Denver Public Schools!
