Cheryl LydonCheryl Lydon recently joined Denver Public Schools as the Elementary Science Coordinator where she supports the implementation of a comprehensive science education program, including professional development and materials refurbishment. Before joining DPS, Cheryl served as assistant principal for a diverse middle school in Aurora. Cheryl started her career as a middle school science teacher in Seattle Washington. She left the classroom to serve as a one-year intern at Pacific Science Center and stayed for 18 years. While at Pacific Science Center, she served as Science on Wheels program manager, where she visited every corner of Washington, bringing hands-on science to students and teachers. She then became teacher education manager, where she managed a National Science Foundation-supported Informal Science Education Project and a number of business-supported grants that supported science education reform in Washington. She then moved on to become the Washington State LASER program director, where she worked as a statewide curriculum coordinator for seven regional sites across Washington, helping them establish high-quality professional development programs for teachers and administrators. Cheryl has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Washington State University and an masters of education in natural science/science education from Western Washington University.
