Cathy Martin

I began my work in DPS in 1990 at Morey Middle School after teaching in Killeen, TX, and Fairfax County Public Schools, VA. After two years in middle school, I transferred to South High School, where I served as department chairperson for three years. Currently, I am the mathematics director in the district. In this position, I work with teachers to support their implementation of standards-based mathematics that provides all of our students with opportunities to learn important mathematics. I am especially interested in professional development that centers on creating classrooms that capitalize on the diversity of students and in working with teacher leaders to create capacity for sustainability in schools. I recently earned a PhD with an emphasis on teacher leader work.
